My Chaplancy Insignia Collection
Chaplancy Service Insignia
In the Irish Defence Forces, Chaplains do not wear an actual rank marking. Since the mid 1990's a slider has been worn and variations of it are shown below. Prior to the cloth slider series, a silver metal cross would be worn in some cases on the epaulette.
The Naval Chaplain for some reason does not have the Celtic cross type slider. The two shown above were made by the tailor on the base.
The Army flat type Chaplains badge was used with Velcro or sewn onto a piece of material that was made into a slider.
