Permanent Infantry Battalions

With the recent re-organisation of the Army two battalions ceased to exist.  The 29th Battalion was integrated into the 6th Battalion (West)  and 27th Battalion (East) on 01 Nov 1998.  The 30th Battalion established 20 Jun 1977 was integrated into the 3rd Battalion on 01 Nov 1998.

The 27th and 28th Battalions were established on 01 Sep 1973 and were border based.
