Rank Markings - Officers, 1942 to 1944

The following set of rank markings were introduced in 1942 when GRO 23 &  28 ordered officers insignia to be cloth in place of metal.  The bars and diamonds were green melton cloth with the edges in brown silk thread.  The Staff Officers' coloured underlay then ceased to be worn.  It is worth pointing out that a series of collar badges also in melton cloth for some Corps were introduced at this time, but very few were ever worn.
