Rank Markings (Slider) - Officers

[Officer Ranks]   [Army Main]

As with the enlisted ranks there was a series of officer rank sliders  introduced for wear on the front of the French style uniform worn on overseas service in the mid 90's .  Initially they were flat with a velcro backing and then became available in slide on form.   When  the  DPM uniform was first introduced the shirt had a place for a velcro rank while the smock had a device to hold  a slider.  So it meant having to adapt one velcro type rank into a slider.   Subsequently the shirt was altered to allowed the slider to be used.

Velcro Type Series (You can see that the Captain rank has been turned into a slider type by sewing the flat rank onto a backing cloth that was then made into a slider.) (I managed to get this set in April 1996.)

I have heard that the Generals are going to introduce a "RED"  identification border around the rank symbols.  As of June 2005 I cannot confirm this but will keep you informed.
