Irish personnel are serving in a European Union support roll for the African Union force in Sudan. The bullion badge diameter is 50mm (2 inches) was issued to Lt.Col K. Byrne (Air Corps) by the Canadian staff contingent who had them made in Canada. The metal badge is 40mm in diameter.

NORDIC BATTLE GROUP |
Irish personnel are serving with the Nordic Battle Group (NBG) which comprises four other European nations. The lead nation is Sweden with Norway, Finland and Estonia contributing as well. This is the badge worn by all nations. The Irish element was established on 28 May 2007 and comprised troops mainly from 4th Western Brigade, this will rotate between the brigades in time.
