Congo, 1960 - 1964

The 32nd Battalion was the first Irish Unit to serve overseas on UN duty.  They departed in July 1960 with a strength of 689 all ranks and were followed immediately afterwards by the 33rd Battalion in August 1960 with a strength of 706 all ranks.
